We think our battle is with circumstances, with other people, with “the system”.
But most of the time, the battle is actually:
- Between your discipline and your distractions
- Between your long-term self and your short-term impulses
- Between what you know you should do and what you feel like doing
This is why you can be very intelligent, very spiritual, very aware – and still stuck.
Awareness is not enough.
The mind even uses awareness as an excuse:
- “I know all this, but my time has not come.”
- “I know the theory, I just need the right mood.”
- “I know what to do, I’ll start when I feel ready.”
This is self-deception.
We are not waiting for the right time.
We are avoiding discomfort.
